Making v drawing and in between
I’ve been busy making things lately. Trying to be clever with my hands and create beautiful objects out of usually quite mundane materials. But while I’ve been making I forgot about drawing. I don’t even know if forgot is the right word. Maybe I just let it slip away from me for awhile but I have started drawing again and it makes sense.
I like that my drawings are often awkward looking and unfinished. They’re not pretty and neat but they are the way that I ‘think’ and ‘feel’ through my life. I like that I can erase lines because it shows my mistakes but also shows my ability to assess and change. I can start again but my marks and traces will always be there. I’ll leave behind graphite and sweat and skin. Drawing reminds me of why I make.
